PROJECT CONTROLS ENGINEER Position Purpose: To provide oversight, coordination, management and technical expertise for all aspects of an operational project reporting system.
• Work closely with MJE Project Managers, MJE Project Controls, MJE Finance along with key representatives to assure that all systems and processes are developed and implemented to create a productive operation control reporting system and associatd project schedules. • Systematically evaluate project progress against established goals, timelines, forecasts, schedules, customer needs and objectives. Identify and report problem areas and provide assistance to correct deficiencies. • Support the development and implementation of common systems and processes to provide for proper accounting, reporting of project costs, customer billing, scheduling, material procurement, record keeping, documentation and budgeting for overhead line and substation projects. • Ability to delegate activities, responsibilities, and authorities, ensuring appropriate levels and assignments of accountability are defined and understood. • Provide leadership in support of operational project management while implementing processes, procedures and training to standardize controls. • Assist with the development and tracking of key performance and financial metrics that will optimize performance, productivity and reduce costs. • Support the development, implementation and refinement of a comprehensive reporting system that will be a tool to inform MJE Management and customers on the status of all projects in the areas of cost, scheduling, manpower and safety. • Establishing and updating the construction schedule utilizing Primavera or other project scheduling software
Qualifications: Extensive (1-3years) experience in the electrical construction (heavy industrial & utility), engineering, project management or operations management. Extensive project controls skills with a track record of achievement of complex projects.. Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiations skills. Strong PC skills and proficient in the use of project scheduling software e.g Primavera, SureTrak, Microsoft Project Strong managerial/leadership skills. Ability to provide oversight to numerous projects throughout the entire organization Customer service skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Accounting or related field. Equivalent experience will be considered
JOURNEYMEN LINEMEN M.J. Electric, Inc., one of the largest utility contractors in the Midwest, has immediate openings for IBEW Journeymen Linemen to work in Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and New Jersey. Qualified candidates must have a valid Journeyman Lineman Card, Class A CDL and completed an approved Apprentice Lineman Training Program. Applicants with these qualifications should also have demonstrated experience in the construction, maintenance and repair in one or more of the following areas: overhead distribution lines and/or overhead transmission lines and/or substations.
CONSTRUCTION / PROJECT MANAGER - UTILITY DIVISION M.J. Electric, Inc., one of the largest utility contractors in the Midwest, has immediate openings for Construction / Project Managers. This position will be responsible for the supervising, directing and coordinating of construction management projects involving overhead transmission and distribution lines and substations. Additional duties include safety management, formulation and implementation of budgets and work plans, reporting, project oversight, staffing, cost analysis and subcontractor management. The role will also provide support in preparation of project specifications, estimating and pricing schedules for the Company's transmission, distribution and substation construction system. Qualified applicants should possess a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent experience. In addition, have a minimum of 3-5 years project / construction management experience in the utility construction industry.
CONSTRUCTION / PROJECT MANAGER - INDUSTRIAL DIVISION M.J. Electric, LLC, a Quanta Services Company, has immediate openings for a Construction / Project Managers to oversee heavy electrical construction and instrumentation projects throughout the United States.
Requirements Minimum of 5-7 years experience with coordinating the construction and maintenance of heavy industrial electrical construction and instrumentation projects (power plants, fossil fuel plants, hydro plants, precipitator upgrades, generator upgrades, emissions upgrades mining, pulp & paper). Individual needs to possess extensive program management/account management expertise and a comprehensive understanding of safety management, construction documents, project management, contract management/negotiations and proposals. Additional duties include formulation and implementation of budgets and work plans, reporting, project oversight, staffing, productivity, cost analysis and subcontractor management. Candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of operations management experience with P&L responsibility for large projects > 5MM, proven business and strategic planning skills, solid customer relations skills, budgeting and forecasting skills and possess a technical or business related undergraduate degree. Union labor relations experience is a must
FIELD ENGINEER - INDUSTRIAL DIVISION Responsibilites:
This staff position reports to a Construction/Project Manager and performs assignment specific engineering and construction management duties at heavy industrial electrical construction projects throughout the USA that may include any combination of the following:
*Material takeoffs; estimating; scheduling; work plan development; tracking of quantities of quantities installed and costs; assist with the coordination between engineering, labor and construction activities; update trend charts and progress curves: expediting and coordination of materials; and working knowledge of quality control procedures relating to construction activities.
Qualifications:
*Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Management or equivalent degree/work experience of 2-5 years. *Candidates must possess a strong work ethic; demonstrate good organization, communication and interpersonal skills; be able to read and interpret mechanical design drawings and specifications. *Ability to travel/relocate based on business needs. *Candidates must have the ability to operate a standard personal computer as well as knowledge of and experience with standard office computer software. *Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment. *Must be able to meet deadlines and put in the time needed to get the job done.
