Leadership Changes

Congratulations to Paul Phillips and Ryan Muha on their recent promotions to Vice Present of IL, WI, MI Upper Peninsula Operations, and Vice President Renewable Energy, respectively.

Paul oversees the Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan Upper Peninsula Regions out of the Hobart, WI office. He held positions of Director of Operations, Operations Manager, Senior Project Manager, and Project Manager prior to being promoted to Vice President. Paul has worked at M. J. Electric since graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University.

Ryan oversees the Renewable Energy Group out of the Northwest Indiana office. He began his career in the electrical industry in the heavy industrial sector as a Project Coordinator, Estimator, and Project Manager. He then transferred to Renewable Energy holding positions of Estimator, Preconstruction Manager, Operations Manager, and Director of Operations prior to being promoted to Vice President. Ryan has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology from Purdue University.

Future Leaders 2023

Since 2017, M. J. Electric has held the MJE Future Leaders Event with the IMPACT group annually at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain, Michigan. Participants are nominated to develop and present a capstone project of their choosing based on current and future organizational needs, along with an individual development component. Each participant creates a detailed plan to include in their learn-by-doing capstone project, and once completed, presents it to senior leadership at this event. This year the Future Leaders Event has welcomed other Quanta Companies to participate including J.W. Didado Electric, InfraSource, and JCR Construction Company.

El Valor Don Quixote Gala 2023

MJE’s Chicago Region recently celebrated El Valor’s 50th Anniversary fundraiser and the Annual Don Quixote Gala at the Field Musuem of Natural History. MJE is proud to support El Valor’s mission to support children, people with disabilities, and their families to achieve excellence and participate fully in life in the Chicagoland Area.

Refinery Rebuild Project

Process Controls & Instrumentation is working on the Superior Refinery Rebuild Project providing installation, testing, steam tracing inspection, and tubing. The rebuild includes state-of-the-art equipment, incorporating many advances in technology and efficiencies made across the refining industry. The Cenovus-owned facility is expected to resume operations in 2023, subject to regulatory approvals.

Gateway EPC Project

M. J. Electric is working in multiple capacities at the Gateway transmission and substation project in Whitley County, Indiana. The MJ Excavating and MJ Drilling crews have been performing groundwork and foundations in preparation for our transmission, fiber, and substation crews. This EPC project will rebuild approximately 15 miles of 69 kV single circuit line switching from wood poles to new steel monopoles. It also includes the rebuild of the Columbia Substation.
